The Holiday

Movie: The Holiday
Contributor: Elizabeth
Rating: 8/10
This was one of those movies that I stumbled upon while I was flipping through channels on TV one night. I had to buy it for myself so that I could watch it anytime I felt like it. The parallel stories of these two women with opposing personalities is something that every girl can appreciate. They each find themselves on a journey to discover what they want out of love and out of life. These actors all have something special about them and it shines through in this movie. Jack Black brings in his witty humor without ruining the romantic side of the movie. Kate Winslet has a captivating charm. Along with the duo of Cameron Diaz and Jude Law, this movie with leave you laughing along with that warm, fuzzy, romantic feeling.

The only thing I found wrong with this movie is that it spends choppy amounts of time on each of the characters. I wish there had been more consistency between the stories.

I would give this movie an 8 out of 10 because of its interesting use of differing environments along with an unbeatable storyline and plot. I would recommend this as a date movie, something to watch with that special someone on a night in, or as a girls night chick flick. While guys would find this movie entertaining, it is probably only entertaining enough to be bearable for a date night, not something to watch if you are looking for a manly movie.
