That's How You Do a Bond Film

Movie: Skyfall
Contributor: Hunter
Rating: 8/10
If I was rating this movie in relation to all other Bond films, I would give it a 9, but it is certainly good enough for an 8 on it's own. Skyfall serves as a transition to the next generation of Bond films, and boy I was not let down. Aside from the great sound editing and visual ability of the movie, every character played an integral role in the film.

Ever since Casino Royale, Daniel Craig has really impressed me as a member of the Bond collective. He continues to impress in Skyfall with the ability to display a look of thought and anguish that would make Derek Zoolander jealous. Judi Dench shined in the usual M way, as she has done so well since the Brosnan Era. However, my vote for best actor within this movie goes to Javier Bardem, whose portrayal of disgraced agent Silva was phenomenal. I mean, you want evil villain, he'll give you evil villain. He was just so convincingly creepy that it made the movie that much better.

Of course, with any Bond movie you will be asked to suspend your mainstream understandings of the reality we live in. There are plenty of scenes the provoke the proverbial, "Like that would ever happen!" The climax of the film, too, was a little anticlimactic for my liking, but still poetic enough to make for a solid ending.

If not for James Bond, see it for Bardem's character development. There is plenty of action to keep the audience captivated for the two-plus hours, and, let's be honest, Adele's theme song for the movie is fantastic.
